As a part of the Media Literacy Project of our Media & Society class at UNYP I created this blog to educate about the issue of product placement on television. I hope the students of M&S and other readers that come across this blog will enjoy it and share their ideas with me through comments.

This is actually very good topic for a blog, because I think that during the last months, or maybe last years (but just a few) people started to realize that there have been products placed into movies, TV shows etc...Maybe because of the fact that there are more and more of these products, and it starts to be annoyingt, and what I have noticed is that the reality shows and projects (Superstar, Modre z Neba...) which were broadcasted or which are broadcasted on Slovak commercial televisions state before the beginning : "There are products being placed in this program." I want to ask, as a regular TV viewer, where these product announcements stated before the shows like 2-3 years ago? Because I do not think so, I have started to notice them from the last fall 2010. I have not checked any laws or regulation, so I am not hundred percent sure, but there has to be some new law acceptance about product placement, at least in Slovakia...
And guys, I want to recommend a great movie, it is called The Truman Show (1998) with Jim Carrey and it is great example of "REALLY STEALTHY" product placement!!! Watch it, you will laugh a lot!!! :)

Read this, Product placement has been legal in Slovakia since 2009, so you're right.
I have seen The Truman Show many times and I love it. It is kind of an ironic resemblance of our society and product placement and advertisement are a big part of it. Truman Show deals with it very humorously :)
You should watch Wayne's World if you haven't seen it.
